A woman sought in the slaying of her former roommate was arrested after a Los Angeles police officer sighted her car outside a bar and she was found inside, authorities said Thursday.
Nancy Crue, 42, of Van Nuys was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the bar in the 7200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, Lt. Warren Knowles said.
Crue had been sought since Saturday, when firefighters found the burned body of Carol Hix, 39, in the bedroom of her Van Nuys apartment in the 15800 block of Vanowen Street, police said. Investigators determined that Hix had been shot to death before a fire was started in the apartment.
Police said Crue was believed to have been the woman that neighbors saw leave the apartment shortly before the fire was noticed.
Crue was arrested after Sgt. John Day sighted her car while on patrol on Sepulveda Boulevard. She was arrested without incident after identifying herself to Day and other officers inside a nearby bar.
Crue was being held without bail on suspicion of murder.
