Global Effort Urged to Solve 3rd World Ills

MANILA — The Philippines and Bangladesh called Thursday for a global approach to solving Third World problems of mounting debt, depressed commodity prices and widespread protectionism.
In a statement at the end of a four-day visit to Manila by Bangladesh President Hussain Mohammed Ershad, the two Asian states urged closer cooperation between developing countries to expand their economies.
The joint statement said Ershad and President Corazon Aquino agreed that an integrated global approach is needed in finding solutions to problems confronting developing countries.
