Soviet Gymnasts Get High Marks at World Event

Vladimir Artemov, Olympic all-around champion, scored two 9.90s Sunday to increase the Soviet Union’s lead in the men’s team event at the World Gymnastics Championships at Stuttgart, West Germany.
European champion Igor Korobchinski also had a 9.90. The two Soviets were the only gymnasts with such high marks.
East Germany is leading China for the silver by .050 point.
With two-thirds of the program in the women’s team compulsories completed, the Soviet Union had a comfortable lead over China.
