Lots of Christmas Trees: Despite the preference of many Americans for artificial Christmas trees, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is expecting a bumper year for Christmas tree farmers. A record 34.3 million Christmas trees were sold in 1988; this year, the USDA expects the market to exceed 35 million.
