Kroger Co.: The Cincinnati supermarket company lost $5.3 million in the third quarter, which included a non-recurring gain of $18.7 million after taxes resulting from last year’s restructuring. In last year’s period, the company posted a $56.2-million gain. Revenue was $5.5 billion, up 7.3% from 1988. The company said productivity improvements and strong sales were helping its emergence from restructuring.
