Santa Monica : Architects for Shelter Tour

Architects for Shelter will present a benefit architectural tour of Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The group is a coalition of architects in the area.
Proceeds will go to the Ocean Park Community Center, which provides a network of shelters and other services for runaway youth, battered women, the homeless and others.
Among the stops on the tour will be: the Charles and Ray Eames home, built in the late 1940s, regarded as the first high-tech house built in the United States; the Embassy and Sovereign Hotel and Apartments, from the romantic-revival period of the 1920s; the 1908 pergola in Palisades Park, representative of the Arts and Crafts movement, and several homes in Rustic Canyon, including one of the canyon’s original log cabins and a 1968 house designed by Ray Kappe.
The tour will begin at the Edgemar Building, 2425 Main St., and shuttle service will be provided to the sites.
