Rogers’ Quiet Dignity
Sharon Rogers continues to be victimized. She first suffered through her husband’s accidental downing of an Iranian airbus and the subsequent investigation. She then barely escaped serious injury or death when the van she was driving was bombed--a seemingly deliberate attempt to end her life. She was forced from her job (as a supposed threat to the students at the private school at which she taught for several years). And now she has to suffer through very public allegations of her husband’s extramarital affairs. Additionally, she has been stripped of the privacy that most of us take for granted.
What I find most amazing is that through it all, Sharon Rogers maintains a reserve of quiet dignity.
It may be years before Sharon Rogers’ life regains a sense of normalcy, but I hope and feel that she will endure. She has gained my deepest respect.
