Montclair Prep 21, Western Christian 9--Derek Sparks and Michael Jones combined to rush for 282 yards as the Mounties dominated the Alpha League game at Charter Oak High in Covina.
The Mounties (7-0, 2-0) struck early, driving 68 yards on their first possession, capped by a five-yard touchdown run by Jones. In the second quarter, Sparks added an eight-yard touchdown run before Western Christian’s Darren Schager kicked a 36-yard field goal to make the score 14-3.
On the next drive, Montclair Prep quarterback Leland Sparks connected with Ed Cibrian for a 21-yard touchdown pass that gave the Mounties a 21-3 halftime lead.
