Alpha League finals--Maranatha placed five runners among the top seven finishers to score 19 points and win the league meet at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas.
Tim Baker (19:04) and Scott Briggs (19:36) led L. A. Baptist with fifth- and ninth-place finishes.
In the girls’ meet, sophomore Carolina Castellanos clocked 21:14 to capture the title in leading L. A. Baptist to the team title.
Senior Gina Johnson (21:41), Kirsten Berger (22:38) and Sarah Weitzel (23:14) placed second, sixth and eighth for the Knights, who totaled 27 points.
Tri-Valley League finals: George Barajas of Fillmore won the individual title to lead the Flashes to the team championship at Paramount Ranch.
Barajas won in 16:19 and brother Genaro finished fourth in 17:16 as Fillmore placed all five scorers among the first nine to finish with 29 points.
Moorpark (58) was second and Carpinteria (64) was third, but Oak Park will advance to the Southern Section meet ahead of Carpinteria based on a better league record.
