Santa Monica : New Rent Control Lawyer
Anthony Trendacosta, an attorney with the Juvenile Dependency Court of the Los Angeles county counsel’s office, has been selected as the new general counsel of the Santa Monica Rent Control Board.
Trendacosta, 39, will take over the six-member legal staff Nov. 13 at an annual salary of $72,000. In private practice, he has specialized in personal injury and labor law. He worked as a hearing officer in 1987 during the board’s effort to certify regulated rents to comply with state law.
Trendacosta takes over for Sally Molloy, who left Aug. 1 after several run-ins with board members over the legal department’s pursuit of rent control violations.
The legal department has experienced a large turnover in recent years, including the departure of former general counsel Joel Levy, who left Sept. 15.
