Trudeau and Writers Guild Face Off: The Writers Guild of America East on Thursday denied that it harassed Garry Trudeau for writing during last year’s writers’ strike. The “Doonesbury” cartoonist claims in a $10-million lawsuit filed this week in New York Federal Court that the guild brought disciplinary proceedings against him for writing the HBO “Tanner ‘88” series during the guild’s 1988 strike against film and TV production companies.
