Grossmont High junior Juli Walls won the girls’ 16-18 one-meter springboard competition at the Las Vegas Invitational, a U.S. Junior Olympic event at Nevada Las Vegas.

San Diego State defeated Redlands, 2-0, at Aztec Bowl. Kristine Hicks and Holly Hamm each scored in the first half for the Aztecs (4-5-1).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC San Diego finished its regular season with a victory over USIU, 6-15, 15-10, 15-10, 15-7, to finish at 20-12 and ranked No. 1 in Division III. UCSD’s Diana Klintworth and USIU’s Heather Kelley each had 18 kills. The Tritons will learn Sunday where the West Regionals will be held and who they will play in the first round.

No. 14 UC Santa Barbara defeated San Diego State, 5-15, 15-6, 16-14, 15-8 as SDSU fell to 15-13, 5-7 in the Big West. Shannon Mathew had 18 kills for SDSU and Amy Erben added 17.
