I had the good fortune to walk the Creative Artists Agency job just prior to completion. Peck/Jones Construction has done over $100 million of work for me and it just seemed that Mr. Whiteson didn’t give real credit where it is justly due.
Between managing developer Bill McGregor and the Peck/Jones people rests the monumental task of filtering egos over budget challenges (if there is a budget), long lead items, late subs, irrational owners and excesses of the architect. I think they did a remarkable job. The finish work is superb and the lack of blood spread on the job means that all the principal players still talk to each other.
It is one of the most complex jobs I have ever seen in 28 years in the business and right up to the standards that Peck/Jones always maintained for me.
Pei should stay in New York.
