NFL Charities and Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr., owner of the San Francisco 49ers, will contribute a total of $1.25 million between them to help victims of last month’s Bay Area earthquake.
The contributions will be presented to United Way of America before the start of tonight’s New Orleans-San Francisco game at Candlestick Park.
NFL Charities, on behalf of the 28 member clubs, will contribute $1 million specifically for the relief effort, the league office announced. DeBartolo will make a donation of $250,000 on behalf of his family and the 49ers.
