Family Planning Clinics Closed

On the front page of The Times (Oct. 31), two items stood side by side: “Sales Tax Sought for Quake Relief,” and “13 Women’s Clinics to Be Shut by County.”
We do not have funds to keep those clinics open.
We do not have funds for quake relief; consequently, our beloved Deukmejian institutes a new tax to cover the expenses for the damage done by the quake.
What about the present and future damage done to immense number of women deprived of care and counseling in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, gonorrhea, syphilis, AIDS and everything else? How about that, Gov. Deukmejian?
