7 Workers Killed, 8 Hurt as Van Skids into a Tree

SYOSSET, N. Y. — A van carrying Haitian immigrants from New York City to jobs on Long Island skidded off a parkway Wednesday and hit a tree, killing seven people and injuring eight others, officials said. Investigators were waiting to question the injured driver to determine what caused the accident.
