Jackson’s ‘Nation’ Is Not ‘Forever’
Janet Jackson may have the No. 1 album--”Rhythm Nation 1814”--for four straight weeks on the Billboard pop chart, but she has a long way to go before she unseats Paula Abdul, who’s still queen of dance-music divas. Her “Forever Your Girl” album, which moved up two notches to No. 4, is in its 70th week on the chart. Just when you think it’s finally run out of gas, another hit single revives the album, which has sold more than 3 million copies. Her latest single, “(It’s Just) The Way That You Love Me,” is No. 4 on the pop singles chart.
* Guitar whiz Joe Satriani has become the darling of the hard-rock/metal fans who fancy instrumentals. His new one, “Flying in a Blue Dream,” is off to a flying start, debuting at No. 50.
