Chile Candidate’s Plane Makes Emergency Landing

SANTIAGO, Chile — A plane carrying opposition candidate Patricio Aylwin, front-runner in December’s presidential elections, made an emergency landing Thursday in southern Chile after developing engine trouble.
The Fokker 27 landed safely at the town of Coyhaique, 940 miles south of Santiago, after the pilot was forced to shut down one of the turbo-prop plane’s two engines, radio journalists reported from the airport.
