Verdugo Hills 14, Eagle Rock 13--The Dons withstood a late rally to come away with the win despite losing four fumbles, including one that led to an Eagle Rock touchdown in the final two minutes.
With 1:23 to play, Verdugo Hills running back Justin Van Fleet bobbled a pitch from quarterback Darrell Evans. Eagle Rock linebacker Raul Estrada caught the loose ball in midair and ran 23 yards to cut the Verdugo Hills lead to one.
Eagle Rock (3-5, 1-5) elected to go for the two-point conversion, but quarterback Jerry Loera overthrew Robert Mancilla in the right corner of the end zone.
