WESTMINSTER — Ocean View High School rallied for 15 points in the fourth quarter to avert an upset and claim a share of the Sunset League championship with a 15-7 victory over Marina.
For three quarters, the Seahawks (7-3 overall, 4-1 in league) self-destructed, getting penalized 11 times for 130 yards.
Marina (2-8, 0-5) scored on its first possession for a 7-0 lead.
Sean Rogers capped a 52-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run but on the conversion, Rogers sliced his kick wide right and Marina held a 7-6 lead with 9:19 to play.
But after Ocean View’s defense held, Seahawk quarterback Randy Karliner found Scott Caringella behind the Marina secondary for a 60-yard touchdown pass that put Ocean View ahead, 12-7.
