NATION IN BRIEF : MINNESOTA : Bakker Leads Drab Life Behind Bars
- Share via
Corrections officials said convicted television evangelist Jim Bakker is leading a Spartan life, scrubbing floors and raking leaves, as he adjusts to his new life inside a Rochester, Minn., prison. The 49-year-old Bakker shares a sparsely furnished dormitory-style cell with three inmates. He has only a small locker for personal items. Once Bakker is evaluated by a team of correctional counselors and offered suggestions on how to adjust to confinement, he will be assigned to a permanent job, perhaps in the food or janitorial service for the hospital, officials said.
