Leading rusher John Johnson and starting cornerback Roderick Jones of the Ventura College football team were shot late Thursday at a Moorpark shopping center.

Johnson and Jones, both of Oxnard, had attended a Moorpark High football game and were in a Moorpark shopping center when they were injured by an apparently random shotgun blast fired from a passing car.

Both players will miss the remainder of the season, including today’s Western State Conference game against Moorpark College. Johnson has three pellets in his legs, and Jones has one pellet in his leg.
