4-A Division
Royal d. San Gabriel, 15-13, 15-8, 15-6--The fifth-ranked Highlanders received nine or more kills from three players at San Gabriel.
Sophomore Jennifer Hamilton led Royal (15-1) with 10 kills and seniors Alison Bantel and Beth Kohs each added nine.
“We had a good, well-rounded attack,” Royal Coach Bob Ferguson said. “It was a real team effort. Everyone contributed either offensively or defensively.”
Senior setter Michelle Pagan dished out 31 assists for the Highlanders, who will face Fountain Valley in a quarterfinal match Tuesday.
Thousand Oaks d. Burroughs, 15-5, 15-8, 15-4--Erikka Bulbranson led the Lancers with nine kills and Holly Hughes and Amy Chellevold each chipped in with eight in a match at Burroughs.
Thousand Oaks (17-1), the 4-A Division runner-up, next will play Arcadia.
1-A Division
L. A. Baptist d. Big Bear, 15-11, 15-5, 15-3--L. A. Baptist, the division’s fifth-ranked team, was paced by Andrea Lucadam’s 10 kills at L. A. Baptist.
Nicole Rameson had five kills and three service aces for L. A. Baptist, the divisional runner-up last season.
After losing its season opener, L. A. Baptist has won 16 in a row.
