Ducks Hand Bruins Fifth Straight Defeat

Third-quarter interceptions by Derek Horton and Daryl Reed set up Oregon touchdowns Saturday as the Ducks rallied for a 38-20 Pacific 10 Conference victory over slumping UCLA.

The loss was the fifth in a row for the Bruins, their longest losing streak since 1963.

UCLA is 2-5 in Pac-10 play and 3-7 overall. The Bruins haven’t lost seven games in a season since 1971 when they were 2-7-1.

Oregon went ahead 21-20 on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Bill Musgrave to Tony Hargain with 8:25 left in the third quarter and stayed on top the rest of the way.

Derek Loville, who led all rushers with 119 yards on 28 carries, scored on a 2-yard run with 14:05 left in the game, making it 28-20. The Ducks moved 39 yards on eight plays after Reed’s 17-yard intercepton return.

A 47-yard field goal by Gregg McCallum with 5:58 remaining and a 29-yard run by Latin Berry with 25 seconds left completed the scoring. Oregon outscored UCLA 28-0 in the second half.
