St. Ives’ Income, Sales Figures Fall for Quarter

St. Ives Laboratories said its third-quarter profit tumbled 52% from a year earlier on an 11% decline in sales.
St. Ives, a Chatsworth producer of shampoos and other personal-care products, said its net income in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 dropped to $590,532 from $1.23 million a year earlier. Its sales fell to $25.3 million from $28.5 million.
The company’s profit for the first nine months of 1989 fell to $3.71 million from $4.06 million, while its nine-month sales rose to $83.5 million from $81.1 million.
