Motorola to Settle Patent Suits: Motorola Inc. has agreed to settle its patent infringement lawsuits against Tandy Corp. and a Finnish firm, the companies announced in a joint statement. The electronics giant, based in suburban Schaumburg, Ill., had alleged that Tandy and Nokia Corp. of Helsinki, Finland, had violated its cellular telephone patents. Under the settlement, Tandy--based in Ft. Worth--and Nokia “have agreed to a license under certain Motorola patents and to settle with Motorola on its other claims,” the companies said in a statement. “There were no admissions of liability on any side,” the companies said. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
