The DMV has placed a two-day suspension on sales activity at El Cajon Motors and fined the East County auto dealership $55,000 for misrepresentation and selling old vehicles as new, a DMV spokesman said Tuesday.
The Department of Motor Vehicle’s bureau of investigations entered an agreement with the dealership requiring El Cajon Motors to pay an additional $19,000 to customers who were sold used cars as new, the spokesman said. The DMV also placed the dealership on probation for two years.
The fines and suspension stem from a 1987 civil suit brought against the dealership by the DMV.
