Pasadena : Bungalow District Created
In an effort to preserve a group of California Craftsman bungalows, the Pasadena Board of Directors has approved the creation of the Bungalow Heaven Landmark District.
Many of the homes in the zone were built from the turn of the century through the 1930s and exemplify the regional architecture called the Craftsman style.
The board approved the zone Tuesday after residents in the area bounded by Washington and Orange Grove boulevards and Chester and Mentor avenues requested the designation. It will require city review of new construction and of exterior alterations to buildings more than 50 years old to ensure that construction will be consistent with the historic neighborhood.
