Ex-Cop Don Jackson Sues Over Sting Arrest
- Share via
Former Hawthorne police sergeant Don Jackson sued the City of Long Beach for $15 million Wednesday, alleging that two Long Beach officers violated his civil rights when one shoved his head through a plate glass window during a routine traffic stop.
An NBC camera crew taped the Jan. 14 incident as part of a “sting” Jackson arranged in an attempt to prove his contention that Long Beach officers routinely abuse blacks.
The suit filed in Los Angeles federal court also alleges that the arresting officers used excessive force. Long Beach Assistant City Atty. Robert Shannon said that he had not seen the suit but that it was not a surprise.
