DUBLIN, Ireland — Internationally renowned hairdresser Vidal Sassoon enjoyed the play at Dublin’s Abbey Theater so much that the author wrote in a part for him at the next performance in Ireland’s National Theatre.
“Imagine visiting Dublin and ending up playing the Abbey Theater,” the bemused Sassoon told reporters after playwright Neil Donnelly obliged with a swift piece of rewriting in his zany comedy “The Reel McCoy” for Saturday’s performance.
“One of the characters in the play is about to be killed. We rewrote the play so that she could say her dying wish was to have her hair done by Vidal Sassoon, and on he came,” a theater spokesman said.
