Ten people were injured, four critically, in a three-car collision Saturday night at Sunset Avenue and Amar Road in the San Gabriel Valley community of Valinda, authorities said.
The crash scattered car seats, strollers and other debris from the wrecked cars as far as 100 yards from the intersection. Firefighters who responded to the 9 p.m. accident had to use the Jaws of Life to cut through one of the cars to free a trapped victim, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
One of the victims, Eustolio Caldera, 38, was listed in critical condition with head and abdominal injuries at Inter-Community Medical Center in Covina.
The other victims were transported to several area hospitals. Hospital officials could not immediately provide information on their conditions. Their names were not released.
