Originally known as Linda Vista (Pretty View) Park, the 26-acre Palisades Park stretches along Ocean Avenue overlooking Santa Monica Bay. It includes an Alaskan totem pole; the Cabrillo Monument, erected in 1949 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the bay; and the statue of St. Monica, sculpted by Eugene Morahan for the 1934 Federal Arts Project.
