THE SIDELINES : Dorsett Sees End of Grid Career

DENVER — Tony Dorsett says that his football career may be over, even though his knee has healed and that he may become a television commentator.
Dorsett, running back for the Denver Broncos, said Monday that he doesn’t expect any of the NFL’s 28 teams to offer him a contract and that he refuses to shop himself around.
“I would never stoop that low,” he said.
Dorsett’s contract with the Broncos pays him at least $500,000 this season, but it expires in February.
Dorsett underwent reconstructive surgery in August to repair a severely sprained left knee.
Coach Dan Reeves had suggested that Dorsett needed to improve his pass-catching skills to make the team.
“When people send out little innuendoes that you have to show you can catch the ball, then you know, in their mind, you’re not a part of the system,” Dorsett said.
