Taiwan Tourists Now Free to Visit E. Europe

TAIPEI, Taiwan — This island nation’s cash-flush tourists, long warned by their government that Communist countries are uncomfortable, poor and dangerous, are now being told they can legally spend their vacations in Eastern Europe.
Taipei lifted a ban Thursday on tourist travel to East Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia.
