National Technical Systems, a Calabasas-based company that provides testing services to the aerospace, communications and automotive industries, said it won an $800,000 contract to provide test support for Marquardt Corp.’s National Aerospace Plane project.
Van Nuys-based Marquardt is one of a few defense contractors in a race to build the jet engines for the National Aerospace Plane, an experimental craft that would fly 10 times faster and three times higher than existing commercial aircraft. At $3.3 billion, it is the most expensive experimental aircraft project undertaken by the United States.
