Council to Consider Call for Bond Election

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The City Council tonight will consider whether to ask voters to approve the sale of a $21-million bond issue to buy land for parks and open space.
The ballot measure would ask voters to approve the bond sale “to save these lands from potential residential and commercial development.”
A recent city study recommended that the city buy additional parkland. And last month, Mayor Gary L. Hausdorfer suggested that the city could buy 120 acres of land in an existing agricultural preserve for a central park if two-thirds of those voting approved a $21-million bond issue.
The measure is proposed for a special election in April, Julian said.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto.
