Cotone Advances in Tennis Quarterfinals

Jennifer Cotone of North Hollywood High rallied to defeat Palisades’ Sirsa Shekim, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-0), Monday and advance to the quarterfinals of the City Section individual girls’ tennis championships at the Racquet Centre in Universal City.
Cotone will play second-seeded Monica Kocian of Fairfax on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Kocian defeated Taft’s Jenny Nussbaum, 6-0, 6-3.
In other matches, Julie Koppokin of Taft defeated Tracy Glass of Birmingham, 6-4, 6-3, and Grant’s Gabriela Knizek beat Peggy Lew of Marshall, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, Terri Aldrete and Sharyn Olesker of Kennedy defeated Granada Hills’ Anita Sarad and Terri Suzukawa, 6-4, 6-4.
