The good news is that Orange County is well ahead of the national trend in providing after-hours, non-emergency medical care for kids. Dr. Jerome H. Jones (above) founded Doctor After Dark--for Kids in Huntington Beach in 1984. . . . Childrens Hospital of Orange County opened a similar clinic in 1986 and others followed. . . . The clinics “fill a void,” Jones said, for parents who find illness in the night more “mysterious to them.”
