The “bounty war” between Coach Jimmy Johnson of the Dallas Cowboys and Coach Buddy Ryan of the Philadelphia Eagles heated up again as the teams prepared for Sunday’s game at Philadelphia.
Johnson has accused Ryan of placing a $200 bounty on placekicker Luis Zendejas and a $500 bounty on quarterback Troy Aikman in a Thanksgiving Day game won by the Eagles, 27-0. “And I think the officials will be on top of the game this time,” Johnson said.
Johnson said linebacker Jessie Small deliberately went out of his way to hurt Zendejas.
The NFL is investigating the bounty charges.
