ALEMANY GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT : Correlli Directs Alemany to Win in Final

Sparked by the play of tournament most valuable player Rachel Correlli, Alemany High rallied from an early seven-point deficit to upset Palmdale, 46-41, in the championship game Saturday night.
Correlli pulled down seven rebounds and scored 12 points, including a 25-foot three-point basket at the halftime buzzer to give Alemany a 28-24 lead. The Indians trailed, 20-13, early in the second quarter.
Alemany (3-2) led, 41-33, with a little less than four minutes to play, but Palmdale (3-1) rallied to within four after Karee Bonde, who finished with a game-high 14 points, hit a three-point shot. Gina Shigamatsu made two free throws to seal the victory.
Alemany’s Sarah Guziel scored nine points and blocked seven shots and was named to the all-tournament team. Palmdale’s Nicole Coupland, who scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds in the final, also was named to the all-tournament team.
In other games:
Thousand Oaks 50, Camarillo 32--Michele Palmisano scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Lancers (2-2) to a third-place finish.
Hart 53, Canyon 36--Sara Wilson and Anjanette Dionne combined for 38 points to lead Hart (3-1) to the consolation title.
