Bush Vows Action on Drunk Driving

WASHINGTON — President Bush, calling drunk driving “one of the most deadly scourges” of our times, promised Monday to keep up pressure to get intoxicated drivers off the road.
Bush signed legislation declaring this National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Week and issued a proclamation saying: “As we prepare to celebrate the holidays and rejoice in the promise of the new year, it is fitting that we pause to remember the perils of drinking and driving.”
