A two-alarm blaze damaged a four-unit condominium complex Saturday morning, forcing four families to seek temporary housing, San Diego Fire Department officials said.
The fire started at 5:02 a.m. in the garage of the complex at 2818 Terrace Pines Drive. San Diego officials requested help from the Chula Vista Fire Department to battle the swift-moving blaze.
The fire reached the attic and caused about $200,000 in damage to the building and $100,000 in damage to belongings.
The American Red Cross is providing temporary housing to one of the three displaced families. The couple, along with their 12-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, do not expect to return to their gutted home for the holidays and are temporarily in a motel, said Red Cross spokesman Dave Ricks.
