Whittaker Inc.: The diversified firm, which makes aircraft fluid controls, radar and defense-related systems, reported 1989 net income of $32 million, up 39% from a year ago. Sales totaled $210 million, an increase of 5%. The Los Angeles firm noted that the results reflect its recapitalization and that figures were affected, in part, by a one-time pretax charge of $14.1 million for efforts to maximize shareholder value.
