Central America and East Bloc

A mixed economy, multiparty National Assembly, autonomy for indigenous peoples, and a desire to meet the basic needs of the population have been key elements in the Nicaraguan Revolution since it began in 1979. For that, they have been treated to a severe economic embargo, disinformation campaigns, and military intervention by the United States.
Now that Poland, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and the rest of the Eastern Bloc nations have unveiled plans to create a mixed economy, multiparty system, autonomy, the desire to meet the basic needs of the population, they are touted as undergoing a revolution that deserves support, praise, and economic opportunities provided generously by the U.S.
The propaganda machine tells us to cheer when this happens in the Soviets’ “back yard” and to condemn those who have been working for the same in ours.
Does anyone else see the cruel contradictions and hypocrisy in this double standard?
