The Brea Police Department will set up a sobriety checkpoint tonight on Imperial Highway near Arovista Street.
The checkpoint will operate from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., and all westbound drivers will be stopped, said Brea Police spokesman Lt. Jim Winder.
In addition, the city will assign two extra teams of motorcycle officers to look for drunk drivers on Friday and Saturday nights through December. Two additional patrol cars will also be deployed for this purpose.
To encourage drunk drivers to stay off the road, two North County businesses are offering rides home tonight for both drivers and their vehicles.
The Yellow Cab Co. of North Orange County will take Christmas party-goers home and Tri-Star Towing of Orange will tow cars from the Fullerton-Placentia area.
For a free taxi ride home, call (714) 535-2211. Tows may be arranged by calling (714) 771-7111.
