Carl Lewis’ business manager said he has discussed with at least six groups the possibility of a multimillion-dollar race between the two-time Olympic champion and suspended Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson.
The rematch probably would take place a few days after Johnson regains his eligibility on Sept. 25, said Joe Douglas, Lewis’ longtime business agent.
The Jamaican-born Johnson, who defeated Lewis in a stirring 100 meters final at the Seoul Olympics, was suspended for two years by the International Amateur Athletic Federation after testing positive for steroids at the 1988 race.
