Schabarum Takes Out Papers for Reelection

Los Angeles County Supervisor Pete Schabarum on Thursday took out petitions to run for reelection in June, but an aide to the supervisor said Schabarum is still undecided about seeking another four-year term.
“He’s leaving his options open,” Schabarum spokeswoman Judy Hammond said. “If he decides to run, he wants to be prepared.”
Schabarum, who has represented much of the San Gabriel Valley since 1972, has until March 9 to gather the 3,595 signatures needed to qualify for a spot on the ballot. Schabarum recently beat back an effort by his colleagues to place him in a new, predominantly Latino district, drawn in an effort to settle a federal lawsuit.
