El Toro 63, Edison 59 (OT)--The quest for a state single-season three-point shooting record by Edison’s Debbie Fischer fell short, a victim of cold shooting and a suffocating El Toro defense at Edison. The defeat ended an eight-game victory streak for Edison (10-3).
Tracy Heiser hit a three-pointer for El Toro (11-4) to tie the score at 54-54 and send it into overtime. Karie Yoshioka, who had a game-high 20 points, scored five in overtime, as El Toro outscored Edison, 9-5.
Fischer, who needed seven three-pointers to tie the state record of 66 set last year by Linda Watson of Lynwood, was held to two and eight points overall, her season low.
