GIRLS’ PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Jalewalia Lifts La Quinta Past Kennedy, 69-39

La Quinta High School defeated Kennedy, 69-39, Monday in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game at La Quinta.
It was the Aztecs’ 43rd consecutive league victory and their 84th in 85 league games. Amy Jalewalia scored 32 points for La Quinta (12-2 overall and 3-0 in league). Jalewalia scored 20 in the second half, making 10 of 15 shots from the field.
In other Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:
Garden Grove 52, Bolsa Grande 33--Chris Bazzel scored 15 points and Melanie Dear had 13 for the host Argonauts (7-4, 3-0), who led, 25-14, at the half before outscoring Bolsa Grande, 19-7, in the third quarter.
Rancho Alamitos 68, Santiago 39--Jenny Newsom had 18 points and Sheila Tsuji had 16 for visiting Rancho Alamitos. Santiago’s Stefanie Cave had 17 points.
