Fortune Releases Most Admired Business List: For the fourth consecutive year, drug maker Merck & Co. has topped Fortune magazine’s ranking of the most admired large companies in the United States. Philip Morris Cos. improved to the No. 2 position from fourth last year. The least admired company in the survey was Beverly Hills-based Gibraltar Financial Corp. whose Gibraltar Savings unit was taken over by federal regulators. At the same time, Great Western Financial, which is also headquartered in Beverly Hills, was ranked as the most admired savings institution in the country.
